The VIP Departure: Setting the Tone for Adventure
Every TravelCameroon expedition begins with a mission to refine the travel experience. Leaving our usual spot at Rond Point Deido, Douala, our VIP bus transformed into a space for connection. From heated debates on life’s challenges to the introduction rituals that turn strangers into a team, the 10 PM departure set the stage for an unforgettable three-day journey into the West Region.
Arrival in Paradise: The Kouoptamo Resort
After reaching Foumbot, we navigated the final stretch to Kouoptamo. Nature gave us an early challenge with slippery roads, where the TravelCameroon spirit of teamwork truly shined—men becoming men again to get our vehicle back on track! But the reward? Absolute paradise.
The resort in Kouoptamo is a hidden jewel. With small waterfalls oozing from within the greenery, it creates a fairytale atmosphere that makes you ask, "Is this really Cameroon?" Between the extraordinary greenery and the romantic, candle-lit dining, this destination redefined luxury for our entire group.
Adrenaline on the Water and the Greens
At TravelCameroon, we prioritize variety. Our days at the resort were packed with activities:
- Golfing: A must-try experience on the lush greens.
- Water Sports: From peaceful kayaking and boat tours to the heart-pounding challenge of water skiing in a 12-meter deep lake.
- Leisure: Table tennis, cycling, and swimming in the sapphire pools.
As night fell, the campfire became the center of our world, filled with adult games, dancing, and the kind of fun that only a TravelCameroon night can provide.
The Mystery of Lake Mbapit
On Day 3, we hiked for one hour to reach the spiritual wonder of Lake Mbapit. This lake is as petrifying as it is intriguing. A local mystery remains: no stone thrown into this lake ever reaches the water—they literally vanish mid-air. We witnessed this firsthand before engaging in a five-minute meditation to feed the spirit in this sacred space.
Foumban: The Power of the Bamoum Kingdom
Our final stop was the historic city of Foumban. After a traditional feast at the famous Baba Hotel, we visited the Foumban Museum—a magnificent work of art shaped like a two-headed snake. Guided by the curator, we schooled ourselves on the history and power of the Bamoum Kingdom and visited the ancient Palace, an architectural testament to Cameroon's rich royal heritage.
These trips are more than just sightseeing; they are crucial for your mental health and well-being. At TravelCameroon, we strive to make human interaction seamless while showing you the best things life has to offer.
